As our second pre-season game, Manchester United are facing off against Olympique Lyonnais in Edinburgh. This will be our first game since Harry Maguire has been stripped of captaincy. Matching up against a Lyon side that are coached by Laurent Blanc. Since Blanc’s arrival, Lyon’s defensive structure has tightened up, possibly making this a tougher test than Leeds who did not make it very difficult for us to break through. United are still missing multiple starting players from the squad, with the likes of Casemiro, Rashford, Bruno and others still missing out due to an extended break post-internationals. The injury list also still remains the same, with Antony and Martial being the most notable. Lyon have lost many notable players on a permanent scale, including Aouar, Faivre, Boateng, Thiago Mendes and Moussa Dembele. These losses could be a massive advantage for United, with these players holding important roles in the Lyon dressing room. On the ins side, Lyon have brought in Clinton Mata and Skelly Alvero – two more solid defensive-minded players. Here is my Tactical Preview…
